Senior Associate Attorney for Usher Law Group, P. C., was admitted to the California Bar in 1993. She graduated from the University of La Verne where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She was the first student to utilize LaVerne’s 3+3 program which allowed her to obtain both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in six years instead of seven. She received her JD from University of La Verne College of Law in 1992. She is licensed to practice law in the State of California and is a member of the California State Bar in good standing. Ms. Sims is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Central District of California.
Ms. Sims has over 15 years of workers’ compensation defense experience, having worked for several law firms in southern California, including managing her own private practice for 5 years. She has represented employers at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards in San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Pomona, Los Angeles, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Oxnard, Anaheim, Santa Ana and Long Beach. Ms. Sims also represents employers in the defense of Labor Code Section 132a and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims. She works closely with employers, insurance carriers and third party administrators to assure a complete and thorough defense of each claim.
Ms. Sims joined Usher Law Group in August, 2008 as a Senior associate attorney. She has presented seminars to clients as well as workers’ compensation industry organizations on various topics relevant to the defense of workers’ compensation claims.
Ms. Sims is actively involved with her community and family outside of her legal career. Her family are proud season ticket holders for the Los Angeles Galaxy MLS soccer team. She is an avid Disney fan and is a long time annual pass holder to Disney theme parks. She participates in several ministries at her church and volunteers with such organizations as Foothill Family Shelter, the YMCA and Olive Crest Homes for Abused and Abandoned Children. |
